No Arapahoe Basin Bonus Pass for the 2012 - 2013 ski season

For those of you who used the A-Basin Bonus Pass to get discount ski days at Vail Resorts, that's no longer an option.  The pass is not coming back for the 2012 - 2013 ski season.

The A-Basin Bonus Pass could be purchased online and offered unlimited days at Arapahoe Basin with 5 non-transferable days at Breckenridge or Keystone.  One restricted day could be used at Vail or Beaver Creek.  All for just $389.

There are other pass products out there that include A-Basin and Vail Resorts areas.  These include the Summit Value Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic 7-Day, and the Epic Pass.  Available resorts and days vary.  Blackout days and other restrictions may apply.

Many of the alternative passes come with six buddy tickets.  After April 22, 2012 they are reduced down to two buddy tickets.

Many people around the country are finding out about the Wells Fargo ski pass deal that's open to college students, college faculty, and college staff in Colorado and Wyoming.  Open a qualifying product and get 2 Rocky Mountain Super Passes for the price of one.

The Wells Fargo deal in Colorado (other deals exist in other states) is only for the Rocky Mountain Super Pass.  One gets unlimited days at Copper Mountain and Winter Park Resort all ski season long.

Is there a Buy One Get One (BOGO) free Vail lift ticket deal?

The extremely short answer to this question is - NO.  Vail doesn't play that game.

Let's face it, if you ski or snowboard at Vail or Beaver Creek you have loads of spare cash.  Lodging is expensive and you'll have to pay $25 for that close-in parking.

If you are going to ski or snowboard at Vail or Beaver Creek and want to save money, you'll need to plan that trip in the summer when business is slow.  Expect to pay full price on everything if you wait until the week before to look for discount Vail lift tickets, lodging, airfare, etc.

Vail doesn't issue lift ticket coupons in gas stations, grocery stores, or Costco.  They issued them years ago in the coupon books but those are long gone.

Vail employees are issued a few 50% coupons but don't expect them to give them to you.  They have friends & family too.

So if you want to save money on Vail lift tickets, plan ahead and buy an Epic Pass.  That's what the marketing teams at ski resorts want you to do.  One can get Vail lift tickets cheaper than the walk up lift ticket window rate if you plan your ski vacation thoroughly.

Oh, and discount codes and promo codes don't exist for Epic Pass products.   The spring pricing rates are the best deal you're going to find.  Those rates disappear mid-April too.

When does the Wells Fargo 2 for 1 Rocky Mountain Super Pass go on sale in 2012?

Wells Fargo Bank has a deal for those who are students, faculty, or staff at Colorado and Wyoming colleges.  Don't fall into any of those categories?   Stop reading right now.  You'll need to present college photo ID at time of purchase. Yes, they do check.

Wells Fargo runs a deal annually that allows college affiliated skiers and snowboarders to receive a 2 for 1 voucher if one person signs up for qualifying product at a participating Colorado or Wyoming Wells Fargo location.

So when do the Buy One Get One Free (2 for 1) Rocky Mountain Super Passes go on sale?  Same time every year - the month of July.  They are on sale beginning July 1, 2012 and are no longer available after mid-December.  Only Colorado and Wyoming college students, faculty, and staff qualify.

Once one signs up for the qualifying Wells Fargo product they are issued the voucher.  Present the voucher when buying the Rocky Mountain Super Pass.  Both people need to be present and both need to present college photo ID's.

The voucher is only good for a Rocky Mountain Super Pass.  It cannot be upgraded to a Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus, a Rocky Mountain Super College Pass, or any other product.  There is a limit of one per customer.

This is a good deal for Colorado and Wyoming college students.  Take advantage of it if you can.

Update:  3/1/17. Wells Fargo terminated this program.

Where to buy discount lift tickets for Loveland and other Colorado ski resorts

Too lazy to print out the coupon that allows you to buy an adult Loveland lift ticket for $40 anytime from your home computer?

You're in luck!  There are businesses along the Front Range, along Interstate 70 corridor, and in Summit County that sell discount lift tickets to Loveland Ski Area.

Adult lift tickets are $53 and children are $23 at all locations.  They are only available during the regular ski season.  http://www.skiloveland.com/ticketsandpasses/offsitetickets.aspx

Many of these same locations sell discount lift tickets to most other Colorado ski resorts in 2012.   The phone numbers of the Loveland sales locations are printed on the Loveland website.  Call ahead and ask.

Probably pretty easy to score a few discounted lift tickets to Winter Park Resort, Copper Mountain, A-Basin, Keystone, Eldora Mountain Resort, Ski Cooper, at the same time you're buying your Loveland ski passes.

Is there ever an Epic Pass promo code or discount code?

by G. Kunkel

Bargain hunters are once again scouring the internet for an Epic Pass promo code.

The Epic Pass products are marketed by Vail Resorts for their ski resorts.  They are sold for a limited time - mainly during the off-season.  They are usually sold mid-March through the end of November.

The Epic Pass ski passes are discount ski season passes and lift passes for Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and A-Basin in Colorado.

The short answer to the existence of an Epic Pass promo code - No.  Don't ever expect Vail Resorts to discount an already heavily discounted pass.

Now if you were to book a very large group of people into one of their expensive slope-side luxury lodging accommodations, you might be able to get an Epic Pass for free.  They did that early season for the 2011 -2012 ski season.

Bottom line - promo codes for Epic Pass purchases don't exist.

Are Aspen Snowmass discount lift tickets available at Costco?

Does Aspen Skiing Company sell discounted lift tickets to Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk, or Aspen Highlands in Costco or King Soopers grocery stores?

Let's think about that for a second.  Aspen, Colorado is a four hour drive away from the Front Range ski market in winter.  Second, Aspen is a destination ski resort favored by the rich and famous.  It has no local ski resort competition.

From that data it's pretty clear that Aspen/Snowmass does not need to heavily discount its lift tickets.  It has no Front Range ski resort competition so those market forces do not apply.

So the answer?  No, Aspen/Snowmass does not sell its lift tickets in Costco.  It doesn't sell them in grocery stores anymore either.

If you want discount lift tickets to Aspen/Snowmass, purchase them through your lodging accomodations or 10 days in advance on the Aspen/Snowmass website.

If you can travel to Colorado during the Denver Ski Expo in November, you can purchase an Aspen Classic Pass.  Nope, they can only renewed online.  New sales are in-person only.

Aspen/Snowmass is an awesome place to ski, snowboard, or skibike.  Your lift ticket is valid at any of its four mountains.  Ski all four on the same day if so inclined.  Use the free ski shuttle and save time and money.

The Epic Local Pass by Vail Resorts

The Epic Local Pass was first introduced by Vail Resorts in the 2011- 2012 ski season.  It used to be called the Colorado Pass and had to be purchased locally.  It's undergone some major changes in the past year.

One does not need to be a Colorado resident to buy a Epic Local Pass.  It's available for purchase to anyone on the planet Earth with an internet connection.  Just visit the Vail Resorts website.

The Epic Local Pass can be purchased for adults, teens, and children.  There is no discount or promo code issued online for this pass - ever.  Discounts are not available to college students, military, good grades, ski patrol, instructors, or travel agents.

The Epic Local Pass can be reserved for just $49 down for a limited time in the spring online.  It can also be renewed online.

When do Telluride discount ski passes go on sale?

Telluride lift tickets and ski season passes are rarely on sale.  If fact you'll be hard pressed to find any discount lift tickets for Telluride ever.  Telluride is a true destination ski resort and is a 6 hour drive away from the Front Range Colorado discount lift ticket wars.

There is a limited period when Telluride ski lift tickets and season passes are available for a discount.  You'll need to travel to the sale location to purchase them too.

Telluride puts its products on sale at regional sales events around Colorado from late September to late October.  The best place to purchase them along Front Range Colorado is at the annual Denver Ski Expo.  All the other ski passes you have to buy in-person will be available for sale there too.

What ski pass to buy depends upon your skiing or snowboarding day schedule.  A variety of days are available.

Discount passes to look for are the Telluride Card, 6 Day Pass, 10 Day Pass, College Season Pass, and the 4 Pass.  The 4 Pass at Telluride requires four adults to each buy a season pass at the same time to get the season pass discount.
