Steamboat discount ski lift tickets 2013 2014

by G. Kunkel

Steamboat offers very few discounted lift ticket deals for adults.  If it is winter. that goes to near zero.

If one really wants to save money on ski passes to this non-Front Range ski resort, you'll need to do your shopping April through November 1.  After that the deals dry up 99.9% of the time.

Steamboat does NOT offer lift ticket sales in:
  • Any Colorado grocery store
  • Costco
  • REI
  • It does have select specialized in-person sales i.e. Labor Day weekend, Boulder, CU pre-season.
  • It does not sell discount four packs or passes.
  • It did offer a 3 Pass deal over Labor Day Weekend and at the Denver Ski Expo.

TIP A GREAT SKI OR SNOWBOARD LESSON

And holy smokes, the 3 Day Olympian Pass Deal was supposed to expire last weekend.  Looks like they are still selling them today on their website for $179.00

The Steamboat 3 Day Olympian Pass is:
  • Valid 1/20/14 - 2/14/14
  • Days do not need to be consecutive.
  • Non-transferable
  • Picture pass
  • Limit one pass per person
  • Advance purchase required
  • The pass must be picked up in person.
They are available for purchase online at the Steamboat website.
The snow is fantastic in the Colorado high country right now.  Steamboat is getting dumped on.  Better have the ticket to ride.

Update 1/5/14

This offer is still available online.

Last day to purchase a Rocky Mountain Super Pass, RM Super Pass Plus or a Winter Park Four Pass 2013 2014 season

by G. Kunkel

Today is the last day to purchase a Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus which is valid at Winter Park Resort, Copper Mountain, and six unrestricted days at Steamboat.  It's also the last day to buy a Rocky Mountain Super Pass and a Winter Park Four Pass.

If you are looking for discount lift tickets to Steamboat, this is your best bet left.   The resort does not sell them in grocery stores or Costco.   The resort in general does not discount them as it is a destination ski resort.  You'll have to buy them from the resort website or your lodging to pay less than full price.

The Rocky Mountain passes have no blackout dates.  The price is only $539.

The passes are picture passes and are non-transferable.  Everyone will need their own pass.

If you like paying full price for lift tickets, just click through.  Window rates for full season daily tickets were around $109 - $115 at Steamboat last year.  Just saying.

Buy them through midnight tonight at skicolorado.com.

12/21/13 Update:

Those guys are being sneaky.  They are selling the Super Pass Plus and Super Pass again this weekend. So get unlimited days at Winter Park Resort and Copper Mountain with six unrestricted days at Steamboat for only $539.  Three days at Monarch Mountain too!  Sales stop on Monday at 9:00 a.m.

Monarch Mountain lift tickets for sale in Superior, Colorado Costco

by G. Kunkel

I found both Monarch Mountain and Crested Butte discounted lift tickets were available at the Superior, Colorado Costco store.  They are valid all season with minimal blackout dates.

The Deal:

Buy three adult lift tickets for $119.99.   Blackout days are December 26, 2013 to January 4, 2014.

The voucher is non-refundable, non-transferable, and not for resale.  They expire April 13, 2014.

Frontside of offer:

Backside of offer:

Don't know if these are available at other Denver Metro Costco locations.  You'll just have to check and see.

For those looking for other lift tickets.  Do not ever expect to find Vail, Beaver Creek, Telluride, Steamboat, or Aspen Snowmass lift tickets in Costco.  Those are destination ski resorts and they don't sell their lift passes in mass discount outlets.  They did 15 years ago before the season pass wars but not anymore.  Don't look for coupons for them either.  Buy a season pass pre-season if you want discounted lift access to them.

2013 2014 Crested Butte lift tickets in Superior, Colorado Costco

by G. Kunkel

I stopped by my local Superior, Colorado Costco location to see what discount lift tickets might be available.  They generally don't list the Colorado deals online.

Sure enough, there were discounted lift tickets available.  One of them was Crested Butte ski resort.

Front of card

Back of card:

The voucher cannot be resold by any means and is non-refundable.  It cannot be combined with any other offer.  Redeem voucher at the season pass office.

I don't know if these are available at other Costco's.  I suspect they are in all Denver Metro locations.

2013 -2014 Ski Lift Tickets available at Colorado King Soopers and select City Market grocery stores

by G. Kunkel

King Soopers is now selling lift tickets for the 2013 - 2014 ski season.  They are available in King  Soopers stores and select City Market stores in Colorado.  Not every store will have them so plan ahead.

From this past Sunday's Denver Post newspaper:  The entire advertisement below.

And a closeup of the resorts offering in store sales.

Available lift tickets include:
  • Keystone
  • Copper Mountain
  • Eldora Mountain Resort
  • Arapahoe Basin
  • Monarch Mountain
  • Ski Granby Ranch
  • Winter Park Resort
  • Loveland Ski Area
  • Breckenridge
  • Ski Cooper
  • Durango Mountain Resort
No prices are listed as the prices fluctuate throughout the season.  Think the price of gasoline at the gas pump.

No sales are available for Steamboat, Aspen Snowmass, or Telluride.   If you buy multi-day tickets for Breckenridge or Keystone, a day or two can be used at Vail or Beaver Creek.  No Vail only or Beaver Creek only tickets are sold.

One cannot buy the 'E Book" at the Customer Service Desk this season.   It does not contain coupons to Vail, Beaver Creek, Steamboat, Aspen, or Telluride.  One can still purchase the book online.

TIP A GREAT SKI OR SNOWBOARD LESSON

If you want to save real money on lift tickets, do like Colorado locals, buy a season pass.   Online purchase is now available for most during their sales periods.   A Epic Pass, Summit Valure Pass, or Epic Local Pass, or a Rocky Mountain Super Pass are popular choices.  Don't look for non-existant promo codes to purchase them.

Steamboat did have a 3 Day Pass for $99 from Labor Day Weekend to mid-November for in-person sales.   Don't expect them to have any discount pass sales until spring break.   They do have the two day 4x40 Pass, and the 3-Day Launch Pass still for purchase.  The Launch Pass is only valid till December 21, 2013.  The Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus is still for sale through Dec 15, 2013.  It includes six unrestricted days at Steamboat.  Price is only $539 and can be bought online.

Free lift tickets for kids at Arapahoe Basin in December 2013

by G. Kunkel

Children 14 and under ski, snowboard, and skibike for free at A Basin December 1 -20, 2013.   No coupon is required.   There are no other hidden restrictions or purchase requirement - just show up.

Children still require a lift ticket (liability release).  Pick one up at the ticket window.  No adult ticket purchase required.

Season passes can still be purchased online, phone, or in person.

They are running discounted adult and children ski and snowboard lessons in December.  Sorry, A-Basin does not offer skibike lessons.  Lenz Sport skibike rentals will soon be available at Summit Powder Bikes in Frisco, CO.

Oh, and the freshly renovated 6th Alley Bar in the A frame opens today.

Last day to buy a 2013-2014 Epic Pass

by G. Kunkel

Friday December 6, 2013 is the last day to buy an Epic Pass.  Better hurry unless you want to be stuck paying tourist prices for daily lift tickets.  Well, you can still try to bum a local into selling you one of their ski-with-a-friend discount tickets.

Not too many more days left to buy any discounted season pass in the entire state.  Deadlines are fast approaching for most.  So if you're planning on paying the same lift ticket rate as a Colorado local resident, get online right now.

Still time to buy a 6th Grade Passport or apply for a free 5th Grade Passport for Colorado Ski  Country USA member resorts.   Neither is valid at a Vail Resorts ski area.   It's too late to pick up a School of Shred pass for Vail Resorts.

One can still buy a Gems Card.  They revamped the card this year.  The deals have gotten better but the price went up to $20.   If you are visiting our beautiful state one can buy it online or pick one up at a participating Colorado Credit Union location.  Participating resorts include Arapahoe Basin, Eldora, Loveland, Monarch Mountain, Powderhorn, Ski Cooper, Ski Granby Ranch, and Sunlight. More information.
