Looking for Loveland Ski Area 4-pack?

by G. Kunkel

Loveland Ski Area offers 4 packs of discounted lift tickets every fall.  They aren't coupons, they are actual lift tickets.

They are sold for a limited time online and at Colorado area ski shows. The packs sold at the shows are generally $10 cheaper than online.

They usually go off-sale around mid-November.   They can not be picked up at the ski area.  No rush orders either.

If it is December, you missed the boat to buy Loveland 4 packs.   The tickets are transferable so if someone on Craigslist is feeling generous..... you could purchase them.  Not likely till April though.

Many other options are still available.   Loveland sells its lift tickets in a variety of outlets.  Go to their website and click on 'Discounted Lift Tickets' under the Tickets and Passes banner.

If you really want to buy these 4 Packs in the future, don't be such a lazy ass.  Buy them when they first go on sale in the fall.  Labor Day weekend is always a sure bet.

The 2014 2015 Epic Passes are no longer for sale

by G. Kunkel

As of 12/7/2014, all Epic Passes are no longer for sale for the season.  If you don't have one by now, you waited too late.

One can still buy an equivalent pass on Snow.com but the price is now $2450.00 instead of $729.00.  Check back in March for next season's passes to go on sale.  According the the Vail Resorts website, the Epic Passes were on sale from 3/4/14 to 12/7/14.   Plenty of time to buy one.

Most other season pass deals and 4 packs have ended as well.   If you waited to buy your lift tickets, you'll be paying a whole lot more now.

If you are a member of SIA, you'll get a second chance.  One must show their credentials at SIA to purchase a SIA Epic Pass.  No purchases for friends or family.  SIA is also closed to the public.

So if you have a pass, go out and enjoy the conditions.  They've been great so far.

2014 2015 Monarch Mountain lift tickets now available in Costco

by G. Kunkel

Not too many ski resorts in Colorado offer their lift tickets for sale in Costco.  Monarch Mountain in central Colorado is one of them.

I was in the Superior, CO location last week and noticed that Monarch had its annual deal available already.    Unfortunately I didn't have my phone with me so I couldn't take a picture of it.

The deal offers three adult lift tickets for around $114 dollars.  Not sure how it is redeemed.  I do not know if it is for sale in other Denver Metro locations but I suspect so.

I did not see any other ski resort lift ticket offers at this time.  A few others will most likely have them as the season progresses.

Again, do not ever expect to find offers for Steamboat, Vail, Aspen/Snowmass, Telluride, or any other big ski areas lift passes for sale in Costco.  It just isn't going to happen.

2014 Denver Ski Expo starts November 7, 2014

by G. Kunkel

One of the last chances to buy discount ski season passes or 4 packs to Colorado ski resorts is next weekend.  Miss this and you will be paying tourist prices.

The Denver Ski Expo is where all the Colorado resorts come and offer one last chance to buy passes in one place.   Most ski areas in Wyoming are present too. So if you like Grand Targhee or Jackson Hole, better show up (but they don't offer any discounts).

Resorts attending the 23rd annual Expo include Loveland, A-Basin, Winter Park, Steamboat, Purgatory, Crested Butte, Aspen/Snowmass, Monarch, Vail Resorts (Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek), Wolf Creek, Telluride, Copper Mountain, Ski Cooper, Ski Granby Ranch, Sunlight, and Silverton.  Out-of-State resorts include: Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Taos, Sipapu/Pajarito.

Most major equipment manufacturers will have booths.  Many other suppliers will be displaying their products.  See the entire list at http://www.skisnowexpo.com/expos/denver/exhibitor-list/

The Expo will be held at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver.  Dates are November 7-9, 2014.

Hours
Friday, November 7- 1pm to 10pm
Saturday, November 8 - 10am to 8pm
Sunday, November 9 - 10am to 6 pm

Tickets are $15 for adults.  Coupons are available for $3 off admission.

And the Beer Garden will be back.

Military Epic Local Pass in Colorado

by G. Kunkel

Unfortunately Vail Resorts does not have a Military Epic Pass, Military Epic Local Pass, or any other kind of discount Military Epic Pass.

Vail Resorts does however sell various military discount lift tickets and season passes at its ski resorts.

Active Duty and reserve military can purchase the Liberty Pass which is valid at Keystone and Arapahoe Basin for unlimited days.  It can be purchased at the Keystone Pass Office all season long.  Adult passes are $219 and child are $125.

Retired military can now purchase the Liberty Honor Pass.  It allows unlimited days at Keystone and A-Basin.  It does have some blackout days.  The adult pass is $279 and can be purchased at the Keystone Pass Office.

Active duty Military can buy discount daily lift tickets all season long at Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Breckenridge, Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood.   Just present your active Military ID.  The 2013/14 price was $72 for adults and $39 Child.  Kirkwood prices were a bit cheaper.

Ski instructors, ski patrol, and travel agents can also get discounted lift tickets with proper ID.  Vail Resorts does not offer a law enforcement or firefighter discount.

More information can be found on the Military FAQ page.

Costco discount lift tickets in Colorado

by G. Kunkel

Some Colorado ski resorts sell their lift tickets in Costco.  These are usually small non-destination areas.

Destination ski areas like Vail, Aspen, Steamboat, and Telluride do not nor have they ever sold them in these outlets.   They don't sell their passes in the grocery store either.  Vail does sell tix to Breck and Keystone for about $9 off the window price in select King Soopers, City Market, Safeway, and Albertson's.

Colorado resorts that have sold them in Costco in the past include: Eldora, Crested Butte, Monarch, A-Basin, and Durango Mountain Resort.

So if your buddy is telling you to check out Costco for Vail or Aspen/Snowmass lift tickets, tell him to lay off the recreational weed.

If you really want to save on the lift passes, buy a season pass during the off season.  The best time to purchase a pass in Colorado is in spring but Sniagrab or Powder Daze are good too.

Most passes can now be purchased online or by phone.  No excuse now except pure laziness.  One can not purchase discount season passes from December to March.

If one can not afford a season pass, 4 packs or 4 passes are great alternatives.  Most resorts sell them these days.  It is a crap shoot if they can be bought online or by phone.  Some do, some don't.  99% of them are picture passes so no sharing or resale allowed.

by G. Kunkel

If one is looking for discount products for Telluride Ski Resort, they need to be purchased before October 13, 2014.   After that date the prices increase significantly.

Products include season passes, a discount card, and 6 day/10 day discount cards.   Passes are available for adults, junior, child, toddler, and senior.  10 day lesson passes are also available.

Military can purchase the Camo Card.  It gets one a 30% discount off the adult window rate.  Military ID required.

According to the Telluride website, the passes can be ordered online and be picked up at any ticket window during the season.

Picture passes are non-transferable.  So don't lend your pass to a buddy or family member or you may wind up in the local pokey.  Your wallet will be lighter too.

Season pass insurance is available for purchase.  If you don't buy it and get hurt, the ski resort will not refund your money for the pass.

Get more information or help through a Skier Services Sales Rep. via email at passes@telski.com or contact them at 970-728-7517.

Eldora is not Epic for the 2014 2015 ski season

by G. Kunkel

After one season on Vail Resorts (Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek) Epic Pass, Eldora Mountain Resort left.   Apparently too many Epic Pass holders crowded the resort on weekends.

On the RMSP+ , passholders will have unlimited skiing, snowboarding, and skibiking at Eldora.  Also included are: unlimited days at Copper Mountain & Winter Park, 6 days at Steamboat, and three days at Crested Butte.

The pass will only be valid for alpine slopes at Eldora.   One must purchase a nordic pass separately.

Skibiking is permitted at Eldora, Crested Butte, Winter Park, and Steamboat.  Restrictions apply at some resorts.

Current pass prices are:
Adult (18-69): $529
*College: $399
Teen (13-17): $399
Child (6-12): $279

The 2014 - 2015 Wells Fargo 2 for 1 Adult Rocky Mountain Super Pass coming in August

by G. Kunkel

Wells Fargo will be offering their BOGO Rocky Mountain Super Pass ski pass deal for the upcoming ski season. It will only be available for a limited time.

One can get a voucher at a participating Colorado Wells Fargo location when one opens up a new consumer checking account between August 1, 1014 and October 31, 2014.

Existing customers can get one by referring a new customer. It is available to students, faculty, and staff at a two-year or four-year college, university, or trade school.

It doesn't look like the deal is open to Wyoming college students this year.  This has nothing to do with the ski resorts - this is coming from Wells Fargo.

Both persons must be Wells Fargo customers. The voucher must then be redeemed by December 19, 2014.

For an additional $100, one can upgrade this voucher to include six unrestricted days at Steamboat. Since a one day ticket goes for over $120, this is a real money saver.

The pass itself is good for unlimited skiing, snowboarding, and skibiking at Winter Park Resort. Just skiing and snowboarding at Copper Mountain.

Get more information on this pass at the Wells Fargo webpage.

Update 3/9/17:  Wells Fargo terminated this program.

Eldora Mountain Resort is now on the Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus

by G. Kunkel

There's a new reason to buy a RMSP+ season pass.   One can get unlimited skiing, snowboarding, and skibiking at Eldora Mountain Resort.

Eldora joins Winter Park and Copper Mountain for unrestricted, unlimited days.  The pass also includes six unrestricted days at Steamboat and three days at Crested Butte.

The price of this pass is currently $509.  Expect this price to increase over the summer and then become unavailable for purchase sometime in November.  It has already had one price increase since March.

Eldora is only on the RMSP+ and not available on the RMSP.

For those living near Boulder, this is a great option.   Sometimes Eldora gets upslope snowstorms that miss all the other ski resorts.   One can also get away for a few hours in the day without braving the Interstate 70 traffic.

Eldora is just a 30 minute drive up Boulder Canyon.  They allow skiing, snowboarding, and skibikes.

They do enforce the use of leashes on snowboards and skibikes.  It's still a law on the books in Colorado.

A great writeup on this development was in the Boulder Daily Camera.

Eldora Mountain Resort is now Super Plus instead of Epic.

Vail lift ticket prices Sunday April 13, 2014

by G. Kunkel

Here's another reason to buy a Epic Season Pass product in Colorado.   Prices really don't go down at Vail even at the end of the ski season.

I snapped this picture on Sunday while attending a Rocky Mountain-PSIA clinic.   I used my SIA Epic Pass to save PSIA some money.

While conditions weren't the best on Sunday.  Monday was a great powder day.   Too bad I was at home.

While prices have edged up recently for the 2014/15 passes, one can still buy them at a great price.   They can be purchased in the pass office at Lionshead (where this picture was taken), by phone, or online at snow.com.

Depending upon the pass one purchases, they are valid at various Vail Resorts locations:  Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Canyons, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Afton Alps, and Mt Brighton.  It is also valid at Arapahoe Basin which has a marketing agreement with them.

Blackout days may apply depending upon the pass one buys.

Don't be a putz next season.   Buy your Colorado ski season pass now.

No add-on ski resorts to the Winter Park Season Pass for 2014/15

by G. Kunkel

There's a big change coming to the Winter Park Season Pass.  It could affect your pass purchase decision right now.

In the past, the resort has allowed people to add additional resorts to their WP season pass after its purchase for a few hundred dollars or so for each resort.   Not so next season.   You will not be able to add Steamboat or Copper Mountain to your pass.

The details haven't all been worked out but if you plan to ski or ride at Steamboat or Copper next season, one had best go ahead any buy a Rocky Mountain Super Plus Pass right now.

Resort staff are trying to let people be aware of this new policy right now.  They don't want a bunch of angry guests next season.

The price for the Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus increases after tomorrow by $70.  It is the best price one will find for it all year.

The RM Super Pass Plus is valid for unlimited days at Winter Park and Copper Mountain.  It also has six unrestricted days at Steamboat and three days at Crested Butte.

2014 2015 Epic Pass now on sale

by G. Kunkel

Get the best deal on Epic Pass right now.   Wait till fall and pay more money.

Vail Resorts now has their Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Summit Value Pass, Keystone/A-Basin Pass, Epic 7 Day Pass, and Epic 4 Day Pass available for purchase.  They can be bought online, or by phone.

If one purchases a pass before April 13, 2014,  six Buddy Passes will be loaded onto the pass.

Full payment is not due until fall.  Put a down payment of $49 right now and pay the rest later.

There is no promotional code or discount code to purchase these passes.  They are already discounted passes.   Wait to buy these passes in December and they'll run you $1800.00.

The Epic Pass provides unlimited skiing, snowboarding, and skibiking at all of the Vail Resorts, Inc. managed ski resorts.  All other passes have restrictions.

The passes are picture passes and cannot be sold, transferred to or used by another person.  Each person must have their own pass.  It is considered 'theft of services' in Colorado to use a non-transferable pass by anyone other than the passholder.

Don't be a hillbilly.  Tip a great ski or snowboard lesson.

The 2014 2015 Epic Local College Pass is not listed as an available pass option on the main page.  If you are a full-time student at a four year college one can buy it here.

One note.  Eldora Mountain Resort is not on the 2014 2015 Epic Pass.  They have elected not to be part of it for next season.

If one wants to get the best price on an Epic Pass for next season, now is the time to buy it.  Purchase season pass insurance too.  One never plans to get hurt but without it, you won't get your money back.

I Ski with KBCO at Winter Park Resort March 5, 2014

by G. Kunkel

Get two adult lift tickets for the price of one at Winter Park Resort this coming Wednesday.

Just print out the coupon at the KBCO website and bring it to a Winter Park or Mary Jane lift ticket window.   If you don't bring the coupon, you don't get the deal.

Both tickets must be used on March 5, 2014.

Didn't come with anybody?  Don't worry, wait for a new friend to show up at the window.

This is a great deal for those who can take off mid-week.  No ski traffic either.

Lots of places at the resort and in-town offer apres-ski deals too.   Personally, I choose Coffee & Tea at the resort as they offer Winter Park Resort employees discounts on adult beverages.   Beers are around $5.50 for everyone else.

Winter Park Pub in town has a great deal on Thai wings. A basket of wings and fries is only $5.00 during Happy Hour.   On Fridays happy hour lasts from 3pm till 7pm.   The place is packed to the rafters with Ski School personnel after 5.

More snow is predicted for this weekend.  Don't miss out.

PSIA lift ticket discount available at Vail or any Vail Resorts Management Company location

by G. Kunkel

If one is a card carrying Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) member,  you can get a discount ski lift ticket at Vail.  The cheap people or hillbillies who failed to tip you at the end of your last lesson will more than likely have to pay well over $100 to get the same ticket.

Just show your PSIA card at the lift ticket window, hand over $79, and you are on your way.   You earned it.  In addition, PSIA pricing is available at Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone.  Most other resorts in the state give discounts too.

The discounted ticket is non-transferable.   No discount is available for friends or family members.

Don't have a PSIA card?  Get your Ski School Director to type up a introductory letter for you.   Keep it in a safe place.   Show this letter at the ticket window (preferably the main one) of the Colorado ski resort one is visiting.  Have your employee pass handy to back up your story.

An introductory letter will also work at Jackson Hole and a number of other western resorts.

Ski instructors are not the only ski resort staff that qualify for lift ticket discounts.  Members of Ski Patrol can flash their cards too.

So those $130 in PSIA dues and $$$ training course fees  will get one lift ticket discounts across the state of Colorado.  Take advantage of it.

Unfortunately, there are no law enforcement or firefighter discounts available at Colorado ski areas.

2013 2014 Eldora Mountain Resort lift tickets available in Superior, Colorado Costco

by G. Kunkel

Discounted ski lift ticket packages for Eldora Mountain Resort are available for purchase in the Superior, Colorado Costco location.  Apparently they've been on sale for the past month or so.

One can get 3 lift tickets for only $134.

They are valid for the entire 2013-2014 ski season.  They do not have any blackout dates.

The vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Vouchers can only be used by one individual for three visits to Eldora Mountain Resort.   So, three people cannot use the voucher on one day.

I don't know if these vouchers are available at other Costco locations in the Denver Metro Area.  You'll just have to look for yourself.   They could be available in other states but I do not have that information.

Again, Vail Resorts (Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek) does not sell lift tickets to Vail or Beaver Creek in Costco or grocery stores in Colorado.   Either buy them at Snow.com or be prepared to pay full price for lift tickets.

On a good note, your Epic Pass is valid at Eldora Mountain Resort this season.  Buy an Epic Pass to get the best lift ticket deals in Colorado.

Discounted single day tickets are also available at select King Soopers and Safeway stores in Colorado.  One can also stop by the Eldora Mountain Resort store in Boulder before heading up Boulder Canyon.

2014 Steamboat April Ski Passes on sale

by G. Kunkel

April is the secret ski season in Colorado.  East Coast skiers think the ski season is over or the snow is no good since the season is over in their state.

As a result, Coloradoans get to enjoy deep untracked fresh powder all to themselves.  And this winter is a four wire season in Steamboat.  That is if your ranch uses four strands of barbed wire on its fences.   One can just ski right over the fence right now.

One can purchase one of two April passes for Steamboat right now.  Buy now and save later.  They are selling limited quantities of these ski passes.

 2014 Springalicious Pass

One can get any three days of skiing, snowboarding, or skibiking at Steamboat for $99.  Valid April 1-13, 2014.   Limit one pass per person.  It's non-transferable and non-refundable.  It can be purchased online or by phone.

2014 Double Dip Pass

Get unlimited unrestricted days in April at Steamboat and Winter Park.  Ski at Steamboat till it closes on April 13 and then spend the rest of the season at Winter Park.  Winter Park's high altitude keeps the snow fresh even after the resort closes on April 20.  The pass must be purchased 48 hours in advance. Cost is only $159 and can be purchased online.

Find out more at the the Steamboat website.

Need the price of a discount ski lift ticket at King Soopers, City Market, or Safeway?

Do you need to find the cost of a discount ski lift ticket at King Soopers or other grocery store in Colorado?

I'm now offering that service through Fiverr.

Pick one ski resort and a one week window of continuous dates and I'll go to my local King Soopers grocery store and find out the prices during that week.

Holiday pricing in effect during that week? - I'll find out the prices. Prices will be for single day tickets.  Multi-day tickets are usually available for a further discount.

Need more than one resort ticket pricing?   Order more gigs. Just $5 for each resort/seven day set of dates.

I will NOT be able to tell you which King Soopers or City Market will be selling the lift tickets.  Not all locations sell them in the state of Colorado.

Not all ski resorts sell their lift tickets in King Soopers.  Most noteably - Vail, Beaver Creek, Telluride, Aspen, and Steamboat.

This gig is only for finding the prices for the exact dates you will need lift tickets.  I will NOT buy lift tickets for anyone.

Hooky Day at Loveland Ski Area on February 13, 2014

by G. Kunkel

The popular Hooky Day returns to Loveland in February with The Party radio station.

Get an adult all day lift ticket for just $25 with the coupon.  Just sign up with 95.7 FM The Party website and then printout the coupon when it becomes available on their website.

Bring the coupon to the Loveland Lift Ticket window and pay just $25 for that day's lift ticket.  The ticket is only valid for Feb 13, 2014.   Don't forget to print the coupon as no printing facilities are at the ski area and they don't take smartphone screenshots.

If one can't make it on Thursday, keep the coupon anyway.  It also has a BOGO adult ticket offer.  The offer is good for the following two weeks.

The Ridgecat is running at Loveland.  Good times.  Just wish they permitted skibikes.   Skiers and snowboarders only there.

Next Hooky Day is March 13th.  Hooky Days are only available at Loveland Ski Area.

2014 Costco Vail lift tickets in Colorado?

by G. Kunkel

Vail Resorts, Inc. owns Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone ski resorts in the state of Colorado.  Vail and Beaver Creek are its two top shelf destination resorts with Breckenridge and Keystone being value destination resorts for college students and families.

Lift tickets are priced accordingly to this structure.  Likewise, Vail Resorts controls where its ski tickets are sold.

Unlike a few Front Range Colorado ski areas,  Vail Resorts does not sell its lift tickets in Costco nor has it ever sold them there for any of their resorts.

Vail Resorts only sells discounted products to its resorts through limited outlets.  Discounted lift tickets to Breckenridge and Keystone can be purchased at select King Soopers, City Market, and Safeway grocery stores in Colorado.

TIP A GREAT SKI OR SNOWBOARD LESSON

Discounted lift tickets to Vail and Beaver Creek can be purchased online at Snow.com.  They are guaranteed to be the lowest price one can find.  They must however be purchased around 10 days in advance.

One can get discounted Vail lift tickets through a lodging package too.  The price will not be any less than those ordered through the Vail website (snow.com).

If one really wants steeper discounts for a Vail-owned resort, you'll need to buy an Epic product during the non-winter season.  They are generally on sale from April to November.

Colorado residents and all other visitors from around the planet Earth can buy them online.  Popular passes include the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, and the Summit Value Pass.  There are no promotional codes ever offered to purchase them.

There are also Epic products that are valid for 3 to 7 days.  It varies from season to season.

Another option is to find a Epic passholder who will sell you one of their Ski-With-A-Friend lift tickets that is loaded onto their pass.  It may cost one around $15 - $ 20 for this courtesy.  You'll still need to pay for the ticket.  Window rates for SWAF tickets vary during the ski season.

The bottom line is that Vail Resorts does not sell lift tickets to any of its ski resorts in Colorado in Costco.

E Book not sold in King Soopers for 2014 ski season

by G. Kunkel

All good things must come to an end and the E Book coupon book is no exception. This season they will not be sold in King Soopers grocery stores in Colorado or any other grocery store.

This year, they must be ordered online or picked up at Tattered Cover bookstore locations in Denver. Additional Colorado pickup locations include Beaver Sports Shop in Winter Park, the Frisco/Copper Visitor Information Center in Frisco, or the Outlets of Silverthorne Customer Service Center.

The books are still only $10 with 60% of proceeds going to the fundraiser.

There are great coupons for Copper Mountain, Loveland Ski Area, Sunlight, and Winter Park Resort, There are a mix of coupons for lift tickets and lesson discounts.

The entire list of offers is available here.

X Games discount lift pass for Aspen Snowmass

by G. Kunkel

The College X Pass is back for the 2014 Winter X Games.  If you are a college student 24 years or younger and attending an accredited 4 year college - you qualify to buy this pass.

This 2 day ski pass gets you access to all four of the Aspen Skiing Company mountains - Aspen, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands, and Snowmass.  All for just $84.   Two additional days can be purchased for $53.

The College X Pass is only valid during the X Games January 23 -26, 2014.

It can be bought online, by phone, or at a ticket window.  The deadline to buy one is January 22, 2014.

It's a non-transferable picture pass.  Don't try to share it with a friend or you could have a nasty experience with local law enforcement for 'theft of services'.

Those without a picture RF card from previous ski trips to Aspen will need to buy one for $5.  Aspen Snowmass doesn't use human lift ticket scanners - they use RF cards like European ski resorts.

The College X Pass can be purchased online at the Aspen Snowmass website.

2013 2014 Safeway ski lift tickets are available in Colorado

by G. Kunkel

As during every ski season, Safeway sells discount lift tickets to a number of Colorado resorts.  As usual, tickets to every resort are not available.

Tickets available are the same ones they've sold for the past fifteen years or so.  King Soopers/City Market also sell the same tickets for the same prices as Safeway.

The tickets sold in the grocery store are actual tickets not vouchers so don't lose them.  They should have a small tear-off tab on the bottom of the ticket.  Tear it off and store it in a zippered pocket.  If your lift pass falls off, one can redeem it for a new pass.

Lift tickets Safeway sells:
  • Winter Park
  • Crested Butte
  • Ski Cooper
  • Eldora
  • Copper Mountain
  • Breckenridge
  • Keystone
  • Arapahoe Basin
  • Loveland
  • Monarch

They do NOT sell:
  • Vail
  • Beaver Creek
  • Steamboat
  • Telluride
  • Aspen/Snowmass
Tickets may or may not be sold at all Safeway locations.  Call ahead to prevent disappointment.  Stores located along Interstate 70 and in the Denver Metro area are safe bets.

The tickets to the non-destination resorts will be less expensive than those to the crowded mega-resorts.  The proximity to the competitive Front Range skier market also determines the price of a lift ticket in Colorado.

Ticket prices fluctuate throughout the season.   Prices will be higher during the holidays and school breaks. Prices will be lower during slow periods and mid-week.  The grocery store doesn't set the prices of the tickets, the ski resorts do.

Most residents of Colorado don't buy lift tickets in grocery stores.  It is cheaper to buy a season pass during the off-season.  As they can be bought online, one can buy them from home.

Popular passes available for purchase during the off-season (it's not winter) include the Rocky Mountain Super Pass, Epic Pass, and the Epic Local Pass.  Coupon codes do not exist for purchasing these passes.

Have fun skiing, snowboarding, and skibiking in Colorado. Lots of snow so far this ski season.

2013 2014 Colorado 5th Grade Passports still available to apply for

by G. Kunkel

There's still time to apply to get a free Colorado 5th Grade Passport from Colorado Ski Country USA.  Your child can get three days of skiing or snowboarding at 20 ski resorts in the state of Colorado.

The application deadline is January 31, 2014.  When filling out the form, one does not need an Application Code.  Just leave it blank.  It's for Colorado children filling them out at their school and used for tracking purposes.

It takes about two weeks for forms to be processed once they are filled out.  The passports are then mailed out via USPS First Class Mail.   Passports cannot be picked up at any location.

In January, those who have never skied or snowboarded before can take a free never-ever lessons which includes rentals.

The 5th Grade Passport does not include any Vail Resorts, Inc. ski resort.  They include Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, and Breckenridge.  Vail Resorts has the School of Shred Pass which must be applied for in-person through an event location in Colorado in the fall.

Participating ski resorts include: Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Durango Mountain, Eldora, Howelsen Hill, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, Ski Cooper, Snowmass, Ski Granby Ranch (formerly SolVista), Steamboat, Sunlight Mountain Resort, Telluride, Winter Park Resort, and Wolf Creek Ski Area.

The parents of passports can also get great deals on their lift tickets.  Just go the the 5th Grade Passport website and look for the coupons in the pass section.

Those with 6th Graders can also get a passport.  They can be purchased for $99 through the same website.  They can get four days of skiing and snowboarding at the same ski resorts the 5th Grade Passport is valid at.

Apply for a 5th or 6th Grade Passport at Colorado Ski County USA.
